Nationwide Series heads to Iowa

NASCAR Busch

The Busch Series uses slightly different cars to the NEXTEL series, with shorter wheelbases and larger spoilers.

The series held its first race outside of the USA,at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, on March 6, 2005.

It was announced in December 2006, by NASCAR officials that the current sponsors for the Busch series (Anheuser-Busch) will not be renewing their contract after the 2007 season.

History

The NASCAR Busch Series is owned and operated by NASCAR is used as a step for young drivers to move up to the Nextel Cup. and are held on the day before the Nextel Cup races.

The series started life in 1950 and was originally know as NASCAR's Sportsman Division, changing to the Late Model Sportsman series in 1968. The series was sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, in 1982, under its Buweieser brand name but changed sponsorship in 1984 to their Busch brand. It was renamed the Busch Grand National Series in 1984, with the Grand National being dropped from the title in 2003.
