Drivers prepare for Belgian Grand Prix

The summer break is over and the teams are getting ready for the 2011 Formula 1 Shell Belgian Grand Prix; the race start on August 26-28 and is traditionally held at the Spa-Francorchamps. This race is famous for its random weather and dangerous corners. The race is loved by drivers and fans alike due to the adrenaline and excitement it brings because is one of the most challenging courses in the formula 1 schedule. Some of the main competitor shared their points on the Belgian Course.

Drivers like the last year champion Lewis Hamilton of Team McLaren are really excited to be back in the cockpit after a month of rest. Spa’s is one of his favorite courses because of the feeling of reaching all of his potential, and Jason Button, also of team McLaren loves to race at the Spa, thought he haven’t raced in the last two opportunities since he was taken out, but not by his own. This year Button hopes to be luckier. Team McLaren principal, Martin Whitmarsh shares the excitement of his fellow team members. For him, the Spa is one of the greatest circuits ever made, and recognizes that is a place where surprises could happen.

Pilots of the Sauber team are also prepared for the Belgium track, for Kamui Kobayashi consider the circuit one of his favorites, and quotes he loves the high speed adquired in the corners. Kobayashi also believes this circuit to be similar in speed to Silverstone. Sergio Perez, also a Sauber Team driver; is looking forward to participate in the Belgian Grand Prix. Perez has won the Spa in Formula three and last year he did in the GP2. He feels fully recovered of the accident at Monaco; and is expecting to do the better than he did in Hungary. James Key, Sauber Team director concerns more about the weather and trust the knowledge and skill of his team drivers. After the hard race in Hungary, they really hope to do a better performance on Belgium.

As you can see the race counts with many sections in the track that can be really terrifying for those not accustomed to the track. It is conformed by long streaks and well known corners. Even the most skilled drivers know the risk at the Spa- Francorchamps chicanes. The Corners at Eau Rouge, Pouhon and Blanchimont are dangerous and equally fantastic for the drivers; especially Pouhon because is one of the fastest and takes everyone to the limit of the grid.

So, the track is ready and the drivers are anxious. All the teams will do their best to claim victory and do a quality race performance; this will be a good race to see.
